Unbelievable! Hear how Nigerians are being Killed Abroad

I watched this video of #breketefamily #hebelembe program and i wept. This honorable member of the house of Assembly, Honourable Rita Oduchi Orji  narrates how an Italian hospitals allegedly maimed a Nigerian citizen named Judith in other to be collecting her body parts for transplants for other patients. The Nigerian Embassy in Italy abandoned this citizen that ran to them for help.

She also narrates how some other Nigerians in some other countries like Malaysia, Russia, etc are being killed and maimed on daily basis without anything being done. Particularly, she narrated how Nigerian girls in Russia are forced to choose between sex without pay and live or sex with pay and die and if she chooses to take money, they will throw her through the window and she could die or become crippled.

She showed pictures and videos to buttress her claims and said she even has more documents.

This is very alarming! And the worst is that she said that the Nigerian embassies in these countries are not doing anything about it.

It is no longer news, that the social media has come to stay and that it is tremendously changing the way information is organized, shared and accessed in our society today. • Every second, new members join the “Linkedin” network. This is so amazing! This goes to show how much the world has tapped deep into the world of social media.  

• Buyers now rely on peer recommendations, which is to say that when customers go for online shopping, they simply check for previous comments about the particular product they need or how well the product is rated on the social media page and that guides them on the next steps to take. 

• Online marketing has taken over the era of face-to-face product marketing.

Considering the views of experts, converged media is now on the rise. 

•  It is no longer enough to just build a website and place your product’s information there.  #Mike Gingerich said “use your website as the foundation for great content and then integrate cross-social platform sharing” this is to say that you must give great considerations to your organizations social media page, if you really want to get online attention/traffic. 

• Businesses will need to pay to get their contents seen. That to me is understandable considering the increasing rate with which contents are put out there and also one needs to advertise to make his content stand out.

Interestingly, it is clear to me, that the advancements in technology has exceeded the simple text graphic display. Furthermore, there is now a growing need in image tracking. According to David Rose, Photos capture what people are most passionate about. So, it is advisable for marketers to do a survey of what customers like and create ads that have good photos that can portray it well.  

In conclusion, I can confidently state that the social media is no longer an emerging trend but an already established technology that has come to stay and to make our world easier and better.

Controversies and Eye Opening Facts about the UNILAG Protests

The students of the University of Lagos was said to have started a protest on Wednesday 6th April, 2016. According to http://thenationonlineng.net/no-light-no-exams-say-unilag-students/.

The students were said to have marched round the school, with green leaves, shouting and demanding that the university authority provide them with amenities such as stable power supply and water supply which are basic amenities. They complained that there was incessant power outage and no water and they need those amenities in place before their exams commence on 18th April, 2016.

They were said to have barricaded the school gate and restricting vehicular movement. Police vehicles were said to have stationed at the gate.

The protest continued till Friday 8th April, 2016 and a result of the recurring protests by the students, over water and power outage, the University management announced an immediate closure of the school indefinitely. http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/general/unilag-shut-indefinitely-over-protests/141564.html 

The school (UNILAG) was supposed to commence their exams on 18th April, 2016 before this protest began. 

One would then ask? How can the students read and prepare for their exams if there is no power supply or how will they survive without water? 

And then another set would ask, which is better? is it an indefinite strike situation whereby students are kept years longer than their graduating year and kept out of school to roam about the streets without any resumption date in sight, or managing to cope with the lack of amenities and write their exams and graduate?

Touching Reports of New Ebola Outbreak in Liberia

What is happening in Africa?
How can this entire epidemic of Ebola be totally cubed? This was the question on my lips when i just saw this report about a new case of Ebola in Liberia which occurred on April 1, 2016 in MONROVIA. And i am sure it is the same question that most Africans are asking too.

According to reuters.com, The woman was brought to a clinic in Paynesville, just east of the capital Monrovia after falling ill and was later transferred to a hospital in the city. A senior health ministry official reported the a young lady in her early thirties died of Ebola at the Redemption Hospital, adding that the government was preparing a statement on the new case.

It is important to remember that over 11,000 people had been reported dead on account of this deadly virus within the past two years of this epidemic.

I deeply think it is high time the world woke up to the challenge of this disease called Ebola.

10 Tips on How to Use and Shade OMR Sheets properly for your Exams

What is an OMR sheet?

According to webopedia.com, OMR is Short for optical mark recognition, the technology of electronically extracting intended data from marked fields, such as checkboxes and fill-infields, on printed forms. OMR technology scans a printed form and reads predefined positions and records where marks are made on the form. 

OMR scanner

The OMR scanner reads and scans the portions that are shaded. Because of this fact, it is advisable to shade properly so as to enable the scanner to get your exact details. 

Below are some tips to guide you as to how to fill and handle the OMR to avoid it not being scanned.

1) Read the instructions properly before you begin your shading

2) Use Only HB Pencils so that the scanner can capture what you have shaded

3) Never shade with a pen - When you shade with a pen, the Scanner sees it as errors and will leave it blank.

4) Do not write or shade on the Margins - This instruction is usually given not to shade on the margins. Whenever you shade or write on the margins, the scanner gives an error message because what you have shaded on the margin will be stopping the scanner from reading your OMR.

5)  Do not write on the edge of the OMR as it will disrupt the scanning process

6) Make sure you shade each alphabet of  your name on a separate column

7) Make sure the edges of your OMR sheet is neatly detached. 

8) Do not use mutilated or sqeezed OMR sheets as the scanner will reject it.

9) Never shade more than one answer for a question. Some people tend to want to shade two answers thinking that the scanner will choose the correct one. This is totally wrong! The scanner will simply put a question mark for that question and mark it wrong.

10) Most importantly, ensure that your name and exam number is correctly and neatly shaded as this will be the determinant of whether you get a score or not.

Education is a Prime Factor in my Administration - President Muhammadu Buhari

 President Muhammadu Buhari Affirms that Education is a prime Factor in his Adminstration.

The president, Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR has said that education will remain a prime factor in his administration. He further stated that  as a priority, his Government will improve the level of education to bring about economic change and provide skilled manpower to maintain economic activities for economic empowerment.  The President stated this at the 10^th Convocation Ceremonies of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

The President represented by the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Anthony Anwukah in his speech, challenged Universities in Nigeria to be at the vanguard of promoting research and providing social facilities in the community where they are located.

He reminded every teacher at the primary, post primary and tertiary education to acquire a certified education training to continue to be relevant, to teach any segment of education.  He emphasized that the government will give a two-year notification to allow every teacher update his or herself along the line.

He called on the University Governing Council to think of a means of improving productivity in the University, and urged them to make themselves relevant in order to attract private sectors to partner with the University.

He commended the University for the development and remarkable achievements which came through hardwork, peace and tranquility in the University.  He called on Nigerians to join in the process of revolutionary change, stressing that without discipline, law and order the society cannot make positive change.  He admonished leaders to adopt the right attitude and join in the fight against corruption.

President Muhammadu Buhari Installs the 3rd Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka

President Muhammadu Buhari Installs Gbong Gwom Jos as the 3rd Chancellor of Unizik.

The President of the Federal Rebublic of Nigeria General Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR has installed the Gbong Gwom Jos and Chairman Plateau State Council of Chiefs, Da Jacob Gyang Buba as the new Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

The President carried this out as part of activities marking the 10^th combined Convocation ceremonies of the institution. General Buhari who is the Visitor to the University, was duly  represented by the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof. Julius Okojie, OON.

The President in his address said that the Federal Government is working hard to address the challenges facing educational development in the country. He expressed confidence in the ability of the University’s new Chancellor to discharge his duties credibly.  The President challenged universities in Nigeria to be at the vanguard of research, teaching and community service, so as to enhance the nation’s development in all fields of human endeavours.

In response to the investiture, the Chancellor appreciated the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for honouring him with the appointment. He promised that he would use the position as Chancellor of the University to mobilize the goodwill of various stakeholders in order to support the management, staff and students of the University, to advance and attain the goals and objectives of the Institution.

The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano in his welcome address, congratulated the new Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor and members of the University Community for a successful investiture. 

The Governor, represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke commended the Vice-Chancellor for his efforts at taking the University to greater heights. He expressed hope that the present administration under the leadership of Prof. Ahaneku will promote academic excellence as well as infrastructural development in the University.     

The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Joseph Eberendu Ahaneku, FAS while congratulating the Chancellor on his appointment, pledged the loyalty and support of the entire University. He expressed optimism that the wealth of knowledge and experience of his majesty would be an invaluable asset to the University.

Highlight of the ceremony was the conferment of Honorary Doctorate degree (Public Administration) on the Chancellor and carnival parade in his honour. 

Some other dignitaries present at the ceremony include: the Obi of Onitsha, his Majesty Nnaemeka Alfred Ugochukwu Achebe who was the royal father of the day.
